Bhakti Raga Seva (BRS) is a non-profit initiative that restores live classical devotional music in Hindu temples by connecting trained musicians (Sadhakas) with sacred temple spaces in Lucknow, India. Every performance is offered as selfless service (seva) to the presiding deity.

BRS currently operates in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Our seva takes place every Sunday evening at the renowned Shri Lete Hue Hanuman Ji Mandir near Pakka Pul, with more partner temples to follow.

You can apply through our website at bhaktiragaseva.com/intent. We look for classical musicians with formal training under a recognized guru who wish to offer their art as devotional seva. The BRS team reviews applications within 7 days.

BRS primarily features Hindustani Classical Vocal (Khayal, Bhajan), Carnatic Vocal, Dhrupad, and Indian classical instruments including Bansuri (flute), Sitar, Tabla, Sarangi, and Mridangam. All performances are raga-based devotional compositions.

Yes. All seva performances are free and open to temple devotees. Music is offered as worship to the deity, not as a commercial performance. There is no ticket or entry fee.

BRS is not a concert or festival. Every performance is a form of worship (seva) offered to the presiding deity of the temple. There is no audience in the conventional sense — only devotees present for darshan and worship. The artist performs for the Devata, not for applause.

A Gharana is a lineage or school of musical training with distinct stylistic characteristics passed from guru (teacher) to shishya (student). Examples include Jaipur-Atrauli, Gwalior, Agra, and Kirana gharanas. BRS artists come from various gharana traditions.
